overall, this is a great place to grab some fresh and modernized southwestern food. it has vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options as long as you ask. the atmosphere is clean and nice. things can be a little pricey depending on what you order but generally, it’s reasonable. service and food can be really good or mediocre at best depending on the time of day and how busy it is. i’ve never had a bad experience and it’s definitely one of the best / freshest restaurants in town. so, its worth a shot.

Great food & relaxed atmosphere with an indie New Mexican vibe in Old Mesilla. Family friendly & servers were attentive and kind. Prices were great! I had their french toast (homemade bread with caramel drizzle & brioched banana)and their chorizo con huevo and it was scrumptious. I left full, happy, and very sleepy in the hot desert sun!

I wish there were more stars to choose. Family owned. Marvelous food and service. This place was recommended to us by a local. Luckily he mentioned that they have specials that aren't on the reg menu. Fabulous .

Best chuleta I've had in a long while. And their chips and salsa were to die for. Great service as well.

Had the A Mountain Burger - amazing bacon! Also had the Green chili enchiladas which are possibly the best in town. Very reasonable prices and they also have family style menu options. They also have a nice outdoor patio and selection of 8 or 10 beers on tap. Will definitely be back!UPDATE: went to Saturday brunch (they do it Sunday too) and we had the Madame Mesilla (SO SO SO GOOD!) and the skillet hash (has smoked pulled pork - also good!). Ordered half order of the French Toast for our child - it was good too but I prefer savory. Highly recommend going for their special brunch menu!

Always enjoy going to Chala's as they have very friendly staff and good food, morning, noon and night.

Wow, I feel that we discovered and incredible hidden gem in Mesilla today. Friends invited us to brunch this morning and we were blown away by the food.The jams are homemade and the bacon is cured right there on the premises! If you are in or around Mesilla this is a MUST dining experience!I can't wait till we visit Chala's again!

In a state known for its cuisine this is my favorite restaurant in all of New Mexico. And I've eaten in almost every town in NM! Seriously nothing on the menu is bad and you get so much food for the money!

The food was excellent, and staff/service was top notch. Not only did our waitress check up on us constantly but other staff were more than happy to assist as well.

Chalas was recommended to us so thought we would try it - one word amazing! All the food is made fresh everyday they don't have a microwave or a freezer here, the breads, jams, salsa, chips even hamburger buns are made daily this is a must go to place not a chain but family owned. Weekends before 2:00pm is there brunch and breakfast menu we tried several choices all were excellent and great portions

Like a Playground for the taste buds! Everything is fresh and made in house.the Green chile jam was just amazing. Sweet and just a little spicy, I will definitely be returning soon.

Supper with family...2 ribeyes, new york strip and the A mountain burger (and a taco for the little guy) with salads, iced tea and some rain!

Went here for breakfast the other day and it was fantastic. I got the Mexican breakfast and the bacon was thick cut and smoked while the eggs were fluffy and the potatoes were crispy with a touch of spice. It looks small from the outside but do yourself a favor and stop here while in Las Cruces.Also our server, and for that matter all the staff, were so nice and helpful.

Always a delicious, fresh meal in picturesque Mesilla! Lucky me, I can walk there from my house anytime I want to e joy friendly staff and great food.

From the moment we walked in we received excellent service. They were friendly and quick! The food was delicious! I ordered the steak salad with red chili dressing. The steak was perfectly cooked and the flavors were awesome! Definitely try their sweet and spicy tea. We will come back again before we leave las Cruces!

Had a wonderful time beautiful experience at chalas never been there before. Wife and I took off in the morning run I have a 69 Buick convertible the food was marvelous the service was awesome we will be back again with relatives so beware

Reasonable prices even at dinner. Ordered one of the beef burritos with a fancy name that i can't remember + layered in the XMAS chili sauces. Taste was good but way overstuffed with the beef and not much else in the burrito. It also was barely warm. The place was also almost too dark to see my food. Trip to the bathroom is sketchy...have to go outside the building and smelled the strongest cigarette smoke ever on the way there.

Anytime I'm in town we stop here..it is a hole in the wall but man o man the food is great!!! Service is awesome, beers are cheap...love to here. Wish we had one on the east coast

Best pork chop ever!Delicious smoked meats including bacon. Specials are worth every penny. Atmosphere is happy energy with friendly wait staff.

Been here a couple of times already. This time I brought my Girlfriend with me for dinner. We were greeted and sat at a table, chips and salsa were served and the waiter told us about a couple of dishes not listed on the menu. I ordered the NY Strip Steak that was not an item on the menu and my Girlfriend ordered the Beef Fajitas. The steak was incredible. It came served on top of some potato slices topped with goat cheese. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted deliciously. The Fajitas were served with only one flour tortilla, rice and beans on the side and a bit of guca and sour cream. Needless to say the steak took the show. Drinks, the Chalas Tea I didn't like it. The Double White draft beer was great. All in all great food and excellent service.

Very friendly service. Be sure to ask about specials, as there is a lot more to the selection that isn't on the menu. The apricot preserve pork chop is amazing, and I'm not even a pork chop person. New York strip isn't anything special. Beer selection is decent. Desserts are good. The cookies are my suggestion. The brownie us good too, though im not a fan of the whip cream. Prices are not cheap. Layout and atmoshere is very homey and family friendly.

The steak salad was surprisingly very good. Especially for that price. I did not expect the quality of flavor in the steak. Very tasty. Everything else flopped.

I went on a Monday with the friends. The carnitas tacos are to die for. The carnitas enchiladas with red sauce were excellent as were the cubanos. One of our party eats no meat but does eat fish. The only thing he could eat were the vegetarian tacos. They were very good but in 2020 a place ought to have more non-meat choices. The atmosphere was lively with a nice buzz. The service was good. They serve beer and wine but no hard stuff. Nice beer selection.

One of the best restaurants in Las Cruces. Although not a steak house but they have the best ribeye stake in town. Always cooked perfect and full of flavor. Now their breakfast is a whole different ballgame. I dont have a favorite breakfast meal. All of it is delish. All food is made form scratch. They make their own bacon. Big thick slices of bacon. Its a must try restaurant. You wont be disappointed.

Excellent Weekend Brunch. Went on Sunday and had excellent food. One of the people I dined with had fabulous green chili jam. It is also for sale. I had chicken tacos. Service was a bit slow due to a busy brunch time. That was fine with us since we weren't in a rush.

This place is amazing. Do yourself a favor and try it ASAP.I had the chilacas with red and green sauce. Don't forget the egg on top! Simply fabulous. Rice and beans like my mamaw used to make! Authentic! Best table chips and salsa I've ever had. Oh! And the Chala tea is divine.

Very friendly service and great Mexican food!

I ordered an omelette with cheese and chorizo with a galleta and coffee. It had tons of chorizo. The coffee was cool but otherwise okay. The highlight was the pepper jam - the best I've ever had. I ordered a breakfast burrito for the road. It was good but otherwise unmemorable. Overall Chala is recommended.

Simple menu at Reasonable prices. Food is fresh and made to order. The simple menu ensure each item is perfect and ingredients are fresh. First time here I will come back again. Salsa has a bite but not over powering.

Perfect fajita burrito. Green suace is very cheddery...awesome. Salsa was very good, nice heat with a note of black pepper. Carrot cake was good, but I prefer a little sweeter.

I was visiting Las Cruces so my brother took me here. Definitely get the iced tea it was wonderful and had a great cinnamon flavor! The bean burrito was a great vegetarian option for me while others ordered the smoked meats. The service was also great, I would definitely recommend!

Busy, noisy, and worth it. They have no microwave or freezer. Food is fresh. Friendly service. Go for Sunday brunch for an extra treat. Our favotite place to take out of state visitors.

In the middle of Covid-19 I was on a date, I live in Alamogordo and was looking for a restaurant that was open. I looked at the pictures and reviews and decided this is where we are going to go. We went and sat outside, the food was amazing the staff was friendly and attentive. I had a Cuban with seasoned fries. The fries were delicious the Cuban was delicious, all of our sandwiches were great!! Thank you guys, we will be back!!! You have to go!!

The salsa here definitely has something added to it—difficult to stop eating. As the dinner progressed and I got fuller, I still felt myself using every last remaining bite as a vessel to get more of that salsa into my system. Today was my first day without it and I’m experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Nothing tastes quite the same.Excellent dinner place in Mesilla. The pork chops were very tender and juicy.
